Unlock Your Potential: Power Assisted Exercise

In our mission to create sustainable and accessible exercise venues, we are proud to introduce our Strength & Conditioning classes at Evesham Leisure Centre. These classes are designed to support clients in their rehabilitation pathways, empowering them to continue their recovery journey alongside the stretched resources of the NHS.

One of the key components of our Strength & Conditioning classes is Power Assisted Exercise. But what exactly is power assisted exercise? Unlike conventional exercise, which relies solely on your own muscle power, power assisted exercise allows you to work passively or actively based on your strength levels. It provides a way to engage in large groups of muscle movements, even when your muscles are weakened due to illness or surgery.

Power assisted exercise machines are particularly beneficial for individuals who have undergone knee or hip replacements, as they offer a low-impact solution that gradually rebuilds strength in those areas without placing excessive stress on the joints. In fact, a study conducted by Sheffield University concluded that power assisted exercise equipment is an accessible and acceptable option for people with moderate to severe neurological impairments. These machines are also effective in aiding stroke recovery, as they facilitate the reconnection between the brain and muscles.

The advantages of power assisted training are numerous:

  1. Reduction in post-exercise soreness: With thorough stretching in the eccentric phase, power assisted exercise helps minimize soreness following your workout.

  2. Muscle toning without cardiovascular stress: Passive exercise strengthens and tones your muscles without placing undue strain on the cardiovascular system, making it an ideal option for individuals with vascular, heart conditions, hypertension, and more.

  3. Enabling long-term physical conditions: Power assisted exercise offers a way for individuals with chronic physical conditions to be more active and engage in beneficial workouts.

  4. Accessible for all: Power assisted machines are particularly beneficial for individuals who may struggle with traditional gym equipment, expanding the possibilities of exercise for a wider range of people.

Join us at Evesham Leisure Centre and unlock your potential with power assisted exercise. Experience the transformative benefits as you rebuild your strength, improve your core, and embark on a journey towards better health and well-being.
