The Petrol Evesham Co-op successfully raised £1,000 for MIND the mental health charity last week, following a 596 mile static bike ride at the store.

The challenge to reach this incredible distance, equivalent from Evesham to John O’Groats, was taken on by colleagues and area managers from the Petrol Evesham store and Evesham’s Co-op Funeral Care.

The hard-working team rode their bikes between 7am and 9pm in an intense four day marathon.

Roy Downey, Co-op Store Manager said: “We’re so proud to have reached over and above our goal in such a short amount of time! After a tough year for many, where a lot of people have felt the strain on their mental health, we wanted to give back to the fantastic charity that is MIND. Thank you to our local community and customers who supported our mission!”

Evesham Leisure Centre kindly provided free use of a static exercise bike, and the event was organised in conjunction with Abby their Community Pioneer Organiser.

Kay McBride, Evesham Leisure Centre Manager, says “We are happy to help the Co-op team & would encourage other businesses that wish to use the facilities or equipment for charitable events to get in touch. We are always happy to help when & where we can”.
